It is used in different ways in different regions of South America. In fact, it is smoked or infused like tea. In southern Chile it is considered a sacred plant and is used as protection against foreign shamans or sorcerers, and also to ward off the "evil eye" and used in cleansing ceremonies.
In Colombia, the leaves are crushed and infused in water for experiences like Ayahuasca. It is important to note that this plant can be toxic if consumed in large quantities and its use can cause side effects. It is therefore strongly recommended not to consume it without the advice of a specialist.
Regarding cultivation, it is quite simple, it does not fear frost and prefers partial shade in summer . It can reach a height of 2 meters and blooms in summer with yellow flowers. It is often used as an ornamental plant for its pleasant scent at night.
