Trois rhums infusés LEGBA sélectionnés par Cyril : Grillon Lubrique, Maléfice et Fly to ze Graal

Cyril's 3 bets: which infused rum to choose when you think you already know your tastes?

At markets, there are some phrases you hear often.

“I only like green teas.”
“Old rums are the only real thing.”
“Fruity rums aren't for me.”

And that is exactly the kind of phrase that amuses Cyril.

Not because he wants to convince people at all costs. Not because he wants to change anyone's tastes. But because he likes to start from what the person already enjoys and show them another way in.

So I asked him: “If you had to choose three LEGBA infused rums for someone who thinks they already know their tastes to try, which would you choose?”

Here are his three bets.

Bet no. 1: Grillon Lubrique, for those who want fruit without heaviness

Grillon Lubrique is the fruit bet, but without the trap of an overly heavy rum.

It is an infusion built around morello cherry and pineapple. The morello cherry brings a deep, almost dark fruity note, while the pineapple lightens the whole with a livelier touch.

It is typically the kind of creation Cyril might suggest to someone who says: “Fruity rums aren't really my thing.”

Because here, the fruit is not there to mask the rum. It is there to accompany it. The difference lies in the process: arranged rum relies on a long maceration with sugar, our infusion technique takes an entirely different path, and the fruit has to hold its own.

Grillon Lubrique may therefore appeal to those looking for fruit without a cloying sensation and without heaviness.

Bet no. 2: Maléfice, for lovers of red fruits and hibiscus

Maléfice lives up to its name: it moves in gently, then it surprises you.

In this creation, you find red fruit notes, with strawberry, raspberry, hibiscus and rosehip. It is a bottle that immediately connects with the world of plants, fruity herbal teas and red infusions.

It is probably the one Cyril would choose for someone who already likes drinks with fruity, tangy or floral notes.

This is not a syrupy rum. The interest lies rather in the balance: the red fruit, the plant notes, the slight acidity of hibiscus, and the depth of the rum.

Maléfice is a good bet for those who like red flavours, hibiscus infusions, floral notes and creations that have character without becoming overpowering.

Bet no. 3: Fly to ze graal, for those who swear only by old rums

Fly to ze graal is the boldest bet. The one Cyril might suggest to someone who says: “I prefer old rums.”

Why? Because this creation does not try to imitate an old rum. It explores a different kind of depth.

It brings together roasted buckwheat and wild blueberry. The buckwheat brings a warm, cereal, lightly toasted note, exactly the aromatic families usually attributed to time in the cask. The wild blueberry adds a darker, rounder nuance. And yet this bottle has never seen a cask, nor aged a single day.

It is a bottle designed for those who like a long finish, roasted notes, less obvious flavours, and creations that do not reveal everything from the first sip.

It is not the easiest choice. But that may be precisely why Cyril chose it.

So, which one would Cyril have you taste?

If you think fruity rums are too heavy, Cyril might start with Grillon Lubrique.

If you like red fruits, hibiscus or indulgent infusions, he might steer you towards Maléfice.

If you lean more towards old rums, deep, roasted notes and a long finish, he would surely try Fly to ze graal.

In the end, the idea is not to change your tastes. It is rather to start from what you already like, then open a small door onto something else.

And if you are still hesitating?

Sometimes the simplest option is to discover several creations. The discovery pack of four vials lets you compare them side by side, and each bottle is also available as a 50 ml vial on its own product page.

LEGBA infused rums are made using an infusion technique we developed ourselves, different from the maceration used for arranged rum. Here, the aim is not to bury the rum under sugar, but to create an encounter between the rum and plants, fruits, spices or roasted notes.

Grillon Lubrique, Maléfice and Fly to ze graal are three very different ways in. Three bets. Three characters.
