Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is a post-fermented tea?
Unlike other teas, Pu Erh undergoes a genuine microbial fermentation after harvest, a little like a cheese or a wine. That is what gives it its dark colour and its forest-floor notes.
Is this earthy taste normal?
Yes, it is the signature of Pu Erh, not a defect. If the note seems too pronounced at first, rinse the leaves: pour on hot water, discard it after 10 seconds, then steep as usual. The cup will be cleaner.
Can the leaves be steeped again?
It is even recommended. Pu Erh holds up to 3 to 4 successive infusions, and many enthusiasts find the second better than the first. Lengthen the time slightly with each round.
When should I drink it?
In the morning or afternoon: it contains theine (caffeine), but generally less than a classic black tea.
